Chart: China’s rail cargo volume

We noted before that the year-on-year change of China’s rail cargo volume has been turning more negative.
Instead of year-on-year change, the chart below shows the actual volume. There is a seasonal decline of rail cargo volume every year for the Chinese New year, which is not that unusual. The magnitude of the decline of rail freight volume for the current slowdown, however, has already come pretty close to the decline in 2008/09 (ignoring the Chinese New Year effect in early 2009).
